Rest it on your neck
The soft U-shape sits lightly on your shoulders, the way a pair of headphones rests around your neck. There are no clips, no headband, and nothing on your face — the weight (about 3.4 ounces) is spread across your shoulders, so most stitchers forget it is there within a few minutes. Because the light travels with you, it works from any seat in the house: the sofa, the craft room chair, the guest bed, the passenger seat.
Aim each arm where you need it
Bend the two flexible arms down toward your hoop. Each lamp head aims and adjusts on its own, so you can bring both beams together over a small motif, spread them wide across a quilt on your lap, or run just one side for a smaller project. Angling the two beams in from slightly different directions also cancels out the shadows your hands and hoop would otherwise cast — a small adjustment that makes a big difference on dark fabric.
One button per lamp
Each lamp head has a single button, and each side is controlled independently. Here is everything the button does:
- Press to cycle the light temperature: warm (about 3000K), then neutral (about 4000K), then daylight (about 6000K).
- Press and hold to dim, and release when the brightness feels right.
Because the sides are independent, you can run one lamp or both, and set each side to its own temperature and brightness. Warm on one side for the room, daylight on the other for the fabric — it is entirely up to you.
Charging and runtime
GlimGlow recharges over USB-C using the included cable — the same connector most modern phones, tablets, and e-readers use. A full charge takes about 2 hours and runs up to 8 hours depending on brightness, which comfortably covers an evening of stitching many times over. These figures reflect the design target and are being confirmed against the final production sample.
Caring for your light
- Wipe the arms and lamp heads with a soft, dry cloth. The soft-touch silicone finish cleans up easily.
- Do not submerge the light in water or hold it under a running tap — it is an electronic device, not a washable one.
- Fold the arms flat and tuck it into your project bag between sessions. It stores as easily as it travels.
